Do you know the advantages of ground source heat pump system?

What is a geothermal heat pump system?

The ground source heat pump central air conditioning system uses shallow ground energy for heating and cooling. It is a type of heat pump. A heat pump transfers cold and heat by using the principles of the Carnot cycle and reverse Carnot cycle. The geothermal heat pump transfers heat or cold from underground soil to the required area. Heat pumps are typically used for air conditioning, cooling, or heating. The geothermal heat pump takes advantage of the large heat and cold storage capacity of underground soil. In winter, the system transfers heat from underground soil to the building. In summer, it transfers cold from the underground to the building. This forms a continuous hot and cold cycle throughout the year.

Advantages of ground source heat pump systems

Renewability

Geothermal energy system technology converts energy by utilizing the solar energy resources stored in the earth as a cold and heat source. Surface soil and water bodies are huge solar collectors, receiving more than 500 times more solar radiation energy than the energy used every year. Through this huge natural energy source, ground source heat pump technology can achieve almost unlimited energy utilization, making clean and renewable ground energy a reality.

High efficiency and energy saving

Underground energy systems operate significantly more efficiently than traditional air conditioning and heating equipment. The temperature of soil or water is usually more stable than the air temperature, ranging from 12-22℃ in winter and 18-32℃ in summer. These stable underground temperatures allow the heat pump to operate efficiently in higher or lower temperature environments, significantly improving the energy efficiency ratio. By investing 1 kilowatt of electric energy, the ground source heat pump can obtain more than 4 kilowatts of heat or more than 5 kilowatts of cooling capacity, with an energy saving effect of 30%-40%. Compared with traditional systems, ground source heat pump operating costs are greatly reduced.

Environmental benefits and social responsibility

Carbon emissions reduction

Ground source heat pump systems significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions by using clean ground energy resources. Compared with traditional gas boilers or electric heating systems, ground source heat pumps do not need to burn fossil energy and avoid carbon dioxide emissions. This is critical to achieving global carbon neutrality goals and supporting corporate environmental and social governance (ESG) goals. By reducing carbon emissions, geothermal heat pump technology not only assists the green transformation of enterprises, but also promotes global climate change response.

Economic benefits

Underground energy heat pumps consume much less electricity than traditional systems. They reduce power consumption by more than 40% compared to air source heat pumps. They also cut power usage by over 70% compared to traditional electric heating systems. Additionally, ground source heat pumps offer higher heating efficiency than traditional systems. Their heating efficiency is nearly 50% better than gas boilers and up to 75% better than oil-fired furnaces. This gives ground source heat pumps significant advantages in both environmental and economic benefits.

One machine for multiple uses, wide range of applications

This system can not only provide heating and cooling, but also provide domestic hot water, with the advantage of “one machine for multiple uses”. Especially in buildings that need to provide heating and cooling at the same time, ground source heat pumps have shown obvious advantages. By replacing traditional boilers and air conditioning systems, ground source heat pumps not only save energy, but also reduce initial investment. Ground source heat pumps are widely used in hotels, residential areas, office buildings, schools and other buildings, while small ground source heat pumps are more suitable for the heating and cooling needs of villa residences.

Automatic operation and low maintenance

The underground energy system has low maintenance costs due to its stable working conditions and simple design. It operates reliably, with a high degree of automation and a long service life. After installation, maintaining the ground source heat pump unit is relatively simple, ensuring long-term, efficient operation. Compared to traditional air conditioning systems, ground source heat pumps reduce manual intervention and lower maintenance costs.
